I don't know if that's true or not. I imagine there are good ones and bad ones, hopefully there is a greater percentage of good ones at a Porsche dealer but I have no way of knowing.

I have to assume there's not much damage they can do by plugging a scan tool into the car and maybe (but I doubt it) taking some fuel pressure measurements.

I would have figured you would know this BEFORE your new purchase?

I towed the car down last night and dropped it off at the dealership. I just got an e-mail notification that they started work (this is a thing now?). So we'll see where this goes.

I don't remember every receiving notice that work started, but they do email/text when complete. It even includes a link to pay online, though I'm not sure what good that really does since you typically have to see the cashier to get your keys.

Never got an email or text during or after work ... just a phone call during and after which I'm sure we've all had.

I would like to get an email knowing they started work ... that is pretty cool.

I had something similar. Unprompted, they emailed me a video of the tech walking underneath the car and commenting during the last annual service. Rather boring for my low mileage, quasi-new boxster, but would be of interest for something that needs a lot of work.

Excellent news:

"Mr. Vitamvas. I just wanted to give you an update on the Boxster. At this time, the high pressure fuel pump has failed. This component is covered under the 8 and 80 emission warranty. We have the pump on order and it will arrive here on Tuesday. Once repairs are completed we will contact you. Please let me know if you have any questions. Linda Harouna, Porsche Silver Spring"
