I don't necessarily trust their story. At all, frankly. But that the cost of the battery replacement is $20k is nuts. They mention another instance with a similar cost.

Not surprised - batteries are still very expensive. I think the average cost per kWh is around $150 but then you have to add on all the extra materials, labor, etc to package it into a battery pack for a vehicle, and of course the pricing for replacement parts have a markup as well

I did know that. You may recall that was part of brief thought about buying out the eGolf at lease end.

But 8 yo Teslas are not worth nothing yet they effectively would be if the battery pack dies.
