Foxes are not cool to have the neighborhood. We've had several in the past few years. They make noises you don't want to hear at night.

Eek. I wonder if this is what my dog and I heard the other night. Seemed to be a call and response among three of them at different distances—but nearby.

Freaked us both out.

Closest thing I can compare it to is a 4yr old girl being murdered. We have a den in our back yard and hear it often. First time every spring I go running outside ready to dial 911 before I remember what it is.

We also have baby owls that make similar noises.

Moral of the story... If you want to kill a little girl and have no one pay attention, I guess my neighborhood would be a good venue....

Maybe I was hearing owls. It sounded elevated, like it was coming from the trees...
