For people that think cars are just another appliance, the Camry (and all its derivatives and competitors) fit the bill. And Toyota has figured this out very well -- which is why they sell multiple types of Camry, just under different names -- you want a quasi-SUV, you get the Highlander Camry. You want a quasi-station wagon, you get the Venza Camry. You want a minivan, you get the Sienna Camry. You want a bigger Camry, you get the Avalon Camry. You want a more luxurious Camry, you get the Lexus ES Camry. You want a luxury SUV, you get the Lexus RX Camry... For those of us the car about how a car looks, drives, feels, interior design, etc -- we seek out products that differentiate themselves. And we usually are willing to pay more for them. We see the extra ~$200-$300 per month as improving our quality of life.
