Was watching this recently, didn't realize they are so expensive nowadays for a base one. Looks like T adds 10k which seems like a lot but not sure what it all entails.

Hopefully they stop calling them 718s…
Am I the only one that finds this exciting?

FUCK. Presumably that gives me two years to buy a GTS 4.0.

Well. Two thoughts:
1. This makes the six cylinder Boxster worth even ‘more’ 2. Yeah, I’d totally order a 2024 then (unless I get talked into a Blackwing powered ZL1 for its last model year in 2023)

Couldn’t help but notice that they say the car runs out of steam quickly at the upper end of the powerband……which is expensive for a slow car.

1. I still have no real interest in the turbo cars. It's shallow, but they sound like Subarus, and if I'm going to splash out this kind of coin, I'm not settling for a blown four. Sorry, just not there.
2. I suspect the EV Boxster will be impressive. I like EVs, though the Taycan leaves me a little cold. I have plenty of time to buy an EV Boxster in the future. This is the death knell for the ICE cars. 3. No one is going to lose a single dollar buying an end-of-line Boxster 4.0. They will hold their values from the moment they drive off the lot. This is not a terribly convenient time to buy a car like this for me, and I still struggle with whether I'd enjoy it more than the car I've already got. But this is also the last chance to spec something exactly the way I want, so I'm pretty conflicted. |

Given #3, I would buy any car in this category.
I know my advice is conflicted —because this is what I’m doing. Essentially I’m ignoring any steep cost of entry knowing I have made a good decision and it will even out on the back end (total cost of ownership will be quite low). I believe the 987s and 981s with the 4.0L power plant are in this category.
