Who knows ....
My local dealer (driven by the sales staff who actually have to pay a fee for site maintenance) has made a lot of progress in listing their used BMW's with the correct option packages and whatnot. But yeah, it really shouldn't be revolutionary for a seller to market their products accurately....

Especially considering that a website exists that allows you to type in the last 7 of the vin and get the build sheet for the car. Seems like it would be a no brainer for BMW dealerships to have a system that automatically populates vehicle information from VINs

No. We're talking like they're interested in finding a buyer as quickly as possible.

The advent of DSG/PDK type transmissions has made this problem so much worse. Perhaps we need a "number of pedals" field?

As for the F30 "lines," I don't think anyone understands them. I can't blame the dealers for being confused.

Fortunately BMW doesn't make anything interesting to me, so I don't have to worry about this.

MANY MANY frustrating searches on Cars and AutoTrader when choosing manual as the transmission choice. Only 3 pedals = manual in my mind also.

I used to see one or two a week at my old office... There were a bunch of law firms in that building and one of the courier services used iMiev's as their vehicles...

Have you seen a Coda? One pulled out in front of me a couple blocks south of my house a bit over a month ago.
