Hennessy Porsche in ATL is a good site to keep up with. They seem to get some unusual specimens.

I would have to let go of the 997 to upgrade and I am not quite ready to do that yet. Plus manual dot twos just keep climbing in value. A long-term sales rep at the local Porsche dealership does not seem to believe they are going to stop appreciating either, so there is that too.

I looked recently on Cars.com and across the country there were n=17-19 Carrera T’s. And n=4 of them are 7 speed manuals.

This includes 2018 and 2019 models. I think the 2019s for any 991.2 will turn out to be valuable. But even rare for 2018s.

Just not a lot of Carrera T’s made.

My impressions from owning the car and putting 400 miles?

It’s really great. There are some odd gearing/lack of torque issues on the 987.2 that I grow weary of over time and while the mechanical sound is far superior for the NA engines, I really am someone who lives in the bottom 60% of the powerband. And for that, the 3.0TT engine is perfect for me.

There’s tons of lag in the GLC43, the AMG E53 and even more so in the 991.2 TTS. With the smaller turbos, there’s just a lot less lag. I think the upgraded rear end also makes a huge difference, IMO. Going to 3.55:1 or 3.59:1 compared to the standard 3.45:1 hides the weirdness in the 7 speed gear ratios.

Huh?

Really?

But it seems like a short lived bubble. Once there’s more 992 manuals in the market.

This sales guy has been with Porsche for forty years. Think he would know?

The 997 dot two were not produced in large quantities unlike the dot one. Remember the global economy was in the toilet when the dot two launched in the fall of 2008. Factor in that the PDK also launched with the dot two and because of such there were less manuals produced as well.
