The upcoming G87-generation BMW M2 isn’t the first of its kind but it’s almost certainly the last. After the G87 M2, any subsequent generation M2 will most likely be electric and all-wheel drive. This G87 M2 will be the last straight-six-powered, rear-wheel drive M2 ever and it will even be offered with a manual transmission. Sweetening the deal is the fact that it’s based off this current-generation of 2 Series, which has already proven itself to be excellent. If the next-gen M2 can take the already impressive package that is the M240i, lighten it, sharpen it, and add more power, it will be an instant future classic.
I don’t want of have to be the first or second year. As a matter of fact if I truly dig it I might wait for the (please god fix the tail lights) LCI to have the last revision. I mean they are all already getting ID8 so no reason to jump in first year.

This may also allow some wiggle room after the first year crazies are done.

I am not in any hurry as I love my car.

That’s a great situation to be in.

Not sure why I bought a first year car? Who am I? I definitely know better.

The S58 has been out for a while now, so no worries about being a beta tester there. Worst case scenario, waiting equals mild hybird which is extremely likely. Re ID8, it will have been out for over a year once the G87 launches in approx March-April 2023. Plus ID7-On receives OTA updates and ID7 has been pretty dang good. The latest G87 photo had the taillights mostly camouflaged. The rear bodywork of the G87 is considerably wider than a G42, I cannot see the tail lights being the same.

I foresee the problem of waiting later making it more difficult to acquire one once the word is out as well as paying a hefty ADM.

You currently have an incredible M car so I concur you should not be in any rush.

Honestly those box flares remind me of a Starion Turbo. LOL

Even the door handles match.

AND the huge hockey stick side skirts. But at least on the Mitsubishi they were body colored!!

HA

SCA the taillights look exactly the same in that pic. G87 gets to change.

Th E30 M3 comes to mind for me.

BMW is going back to flush door handles on everything. wdc330i’s new M440 GC has flush door handles. Maybe we can get come insight into how they are? My experience with the one in the showroom is that they are fairly deep.

YT video - 2023 BMW M2 Coupé Prototype G87 Spied Testing Less Disguised At The Nürburgring: https://youtu.be/C_29-7Yhs_o

With all the recent pics and videos that have dropped in the past week it is almost like BMW is intentionally putting this out there.

Its weird. I hated when they moved away from the flush door handles (E36, E39).

I thought the pull handles were a step backwards. But having had both (E36, E39, E46, F87) I am not sure which I prefer. I still think the flush is cleaner.
