Yeah, it is crazy… but I suppose it is expected in today’s used car market?

Edit: The one that I am currently considering, waiting for PPI to be performed, is well above book value.

Even the 997.1s are climbing; not quite that fast but they’re definitely well above where they were a few years ago.

996s seem to be, as well.

There’s really no such thing as a bargain 911 at this point.

For that use case, wouldn't a Panamera TTS or Taycan TTS be even better?

Much much heavier cars though.

The Taycan is 5500 pounds. And the Panamera is well north of 4000lbs (~4300lbs).

When you’re at 80mph+ and constantly crash braking (which defines SoCal), that extra weight is not appreciated.

Gotcha. I was curious so I looked up C&D's tests for the 911 turbo and the Panamera TS. Looks like their 100-0 distances aren't far off surprisingly (283 vs 291)

I think you just can never get around the fact that a Taycan weighs more than 5000 pounds. Dynamically Porsche did everything possible to make it feel lighter. But i wonder how often the brakes need to be replaced.

‘09 C2S manual, 42k miles with six owners. Brought $70.5k plus 5% BaT fee. Not perfect so maybe that is what hindered it from doing any better?

I guess if you regularly really slam on the brakes you'll burn through them. But like most EVs, most of your day to day braking needs are handled entirely by regen. In the Taycan's case, the first .4g of braking is handled entirely by regen according to this article:
https://www.motortrend.com/news/2020...tput-charging/

The Tesla Model S is similarly heavy and it's pretty common to hear reports of people going years without needing to replace brakes.
