G87 M2 delivered

09.01.23. My brother’s G87 finally arrived! It was built in mid June. It took nearly 80 days to receive it after production which is absurd for a vehicle produced in Mexico. The car arrived with 21 miles on the odometer and after business hours yesterday evening. They PDI’ed it this morning and delivered it around 1:30 today No detail so it is fairly dirty.

Edit: While it is nice it does absolutely nothing for me in Alpine White. Yawn…

Yes, my brother’s. I was editing the original post apparently while you were replying. My former #1 allocation that I relinquished to him. He was #2.

Looks good to me, actually prefer the odd looking front of the m2 over the standard series.

It is highly doubtful that you will be seeing a review from me anytime soon… I do not anticipate that I will be driving it. I also informed me CA today that if my build does not arrive on or before the first week of October that I am probably bailing out as I have simply lost interest.

I spent 4.5 hours preforming a post-delivery detail on it this evening. The build quality appears to be on the up and up. Certainly better than what I have seen coming out of Spartanburg for the past two years.

I like the lift in the garage, pretty cool. What is a 4.5 hour post delivery detail ?

Unpack products, equipment, and setup at owner’s home = 20+ minutes. Hand clean wheels, which FYI these wheels are a nightmare to clean = very time consuming, Gyeon Tire Clean 2x, Initial foam cannon with Gyeon Foam, let soak approx 5 minutes, heavy rinse, CarPro Iron X decontamination entire vehicle, 2x in some areas (Iron Fallout was heavy), rinse, foam cannon #2 with Gyeon Bathe, wash mitt applied with two bucket method, throughly rinsed, Gyeon Wet Coat, rinsed throughly, blow dry, wipe down remaining water with Gyeon Silk Dryer, dry/wipe down door, hood, and trunk jambs. Clean up/pack up 25+ minutes.

Re the lift. The late 2002 S54 M Roadster in Oxford Green over Sand with 14k miles is on the lift. 1 of 17 ever produced. #7 produced for 2002 and the last one built in that color combo for the final year of E36/7 production. The 2024 X7 M60i in Marina Bay Blue is parked in the other garage bay.

I am already there… been there for two years with the ‘09 997.2 and partially why I am willing to fully ditch BMW.

Edit: BTW, the G87 makes an E46 M3 look tiny… my brother still has his ‘04 manual, E46 M3 convertible which was parked adjacent from the G87.
