If not for the lack of manual, I would strongly consider one. Not now, of course. I'm still licking my wounds from buying the M3.

That price is crazy low for that product.
Went into the configurator and the Z51 package seems like a good move. Quote:

Another way to put it is that modern manuals aren’t very good, and most modern engines aren’t that good with a manual.

I know you strongly disagree Nick, but I am more satisfied with my n55/6sp combo than I have been with any other engine transmission combo I have ever driven. I enjoy it more than my e36m3s, my e39 m5, my z3, my friends 987.2, my old e46s, etc.
I have spent time in dct and auto e82s and not liked them nearly as much (not liked them at all) . I can live with an auto on any sedan/suv type car, but I'd rather have a manual that degrades the performance on a fun car over any other option

Furthermore, GM didn't just do away with the manual -- they went with a DCT, gave it full electronic control, and mounted the powertrain behind the seats. They could therefore do away with the packaging and structural issues related to the drive shaft/torque tube, shift linkage, and so on. (Of course, they then put in two very deep tub-like seats with a tall center console, so they didn't gain much in the way of cabin space, buy hey...) If I were to spend $60k on a car, I'd buy this one. If I were to spend $100k, I think I'd still buy this one. |

...oh, and not in red. I'll let you all guess what color I'd pick.
