My dad had an 89 Speedster. Since the goal was light weight, both the top and rear hard tonneau were very fiddly... the tonneau was really wobbly when not latched and was hard to align with on person... the top had a bunch of snaps.

Only got to ride in it a couple times though... I think he only put about 800 miles on it before he sold it.

I realize old 911's have been appreciating to high values for a while now...
That is something I am painfully aware of - LOL - as back in 1983 I bought my BMW 2002 over a 1968 911.
Both the 2002 and 911 that I was looking at in 1983 were ~ $6,000.
While I do admit, the 2002 was the better car for me and what I needed at the time, the values of the old original 911's just kept going north whereas my 2002 was (more or less) stagnant...

I should have bought the 911... LOL
Still - That is an exceptional car and unique configuration - but JEEZZEE....
I had flashbacks when I saw that car in the link - the color of the 911 I looked at was the same. LOL

I saw that auction and last weekend I saw what must be that cars twin in Vienna, VA; green, soft window targa. Similar condition. I actually thought it was the same car at first but the wheels were different.

Anyhoo, it was being driven by a young couple, parked on the street, and being used to transport a large dog.

I wanted to ask if they’d seen the BaT auction.

Bringing this thread around to the beginning, here's a preserved 1993 Fox body GT that is already doing numbers.

Might be the new high water mark for non-Cobra Fox bodies?

Anyway, I had a Reef Blue GT back in the day and it's a really cool color.

So many memories.

I always liked that color, but was not a fan of the two-tone GTs with the lower cladding.

The fun thing about restored / valuable cars is that you can use them if you accept that they'll need further restoration in the future. Just, you know, don't salt them.

It would be cheaper to just buy a mid-2000s V8 Silverado or F-150 and swap it to a 5-speed. The driving experience would be roughly the same as a Fox body, except the braking would be vastly better.
