I had a strap wrench, just couldn't get it to budge. I finally did, without resorting to a screw driver.

It's amazing how little torque an oil filter with an organic gasket requires to make a good seal.
The spin-on filter for my motorcycle uses an o-ring seat: 2 full turns past fully seated. Now THAT sucks. |

I still want to know why Alex associates a "sausage grip" with using tremendous amounts of force.
