Interesting. Slightly different approach than Tesla took with early deliveries - my Model S was delivered about 11 months after the first “for show“ deliveries (to VIPs) and 5-6 months after “real” deliveries.
The process was something like: - notified production was complete. - wired payment (my portion plus the loan portion) - vehicle shipped by UPS from the factory (even had a tracking number!) - docs sent to me by FedEx, so arrived before the car. Included the MCO (manufacturers certificate of origin) and a temporary CA registration good for 30 or 45 days. - car delivered in a small enclosed trailer. - I took the MCO to the DMV and registered the car a couple weeks later. Had to pay the state sales tax at registration. I never received a local sales tax bill… That all was over about a week…

Long story short, the amount of cash spent has/had little to nothing to do with it. The 7 day/1k mile guarantee has since expired. It will eventually be flipped. Last edited by SCA; 07-13-2022 at 06:51 PM. |

Some R1T photos taken earlier today. It currently has just a tad over 200 miles.
Edit… and btw, it is officially for sale. Absolutely nothing against Rivian nor the truck, I quickly came to the realization that I am not an EV guy. Last edited by SCA; 07-17-2022 at 10:59 PM. |

Just wondering what the latest is/was with the Rivian? Did you get the title situation worked out with them? Do you still have it or did you sell it? Any changes in your opinion of EVs after having it for a bit?

No tag, title, registration. I have had it for nearly 5 weeks. It is still taking them 90+ days for each vehicle. Absurd! It has to be deliberate. I still have it for now as I have not really had the time to pursue selling it, plus no title. Zero change in regards to my opinion. Not really a fan of EVs and it most due to the charging infrastructure. If you are not a Telsa owner the infrastructure for charging everything else is shit. There is A LOT of work to be done for this county to attempt to rid itself of ICE and fully accept EVs.

Best to get out while the getting is still good! FYI, Rivian had a price increase within the last 48 hours. It went unannounced and my build is now a nearly $98k truck with dest. Crazy… |
