This is my problem with convertibles as well. The 2 days a year that I wish my Cayman's roof came off, I remind myself of the above.

If you decide to sell the Boxster we should talk. I've been toying around with the idea of a second car.

I'm not too sure about a yellow second car.

911T? With a base price of $103k (meaning out the door it'll cost you upwards of $130k?)

Yeah, totally fits within my budget. And makes sense as a daily driver. WTF?

Alex, let's talk...

I'd be all over this if a car with two seats made any sense at all for us. Talk about a seller you can trust to have taken good care of the car! I'll plan to buy it from Alex in a few years.

JV - just out of curiosity, what are the specs / options again?

The Boxster has been my daily driver. But I have no interest in driving it through salt and snow. It's just in too nice of shape, and I don't want to subject it to that. I got winter tires and wheels the first year I owned the car and quickly decided that just wasn't for me.

I'm starting to realize I'm just not a convertible person. At least not in this climate. For the few days where it's not crazy humid or hot or raining, yeah, it's great. But there are very few days like that around here. Maybe the solution is to move?

And here's the thing, I don't really like driving the car that much with the top up. This was an issue I had with my first Boxster - I loved it when I could drive it top-down. This sounds like I don't like the car. I do like the car. It's a phenomenal car. If I didn't have the race car(s), I'd almost certainly keep it (or turn it into a Cayman) because I'd need something really stimulating to scratch the "fast car" itch. But for the dollar value of the two cars I could have one do-it-all car plus cash to finish the RX-8. That's more appealing than owning a zoomy street car.

This car will net you 10K to finish the race car and solve the convertible problem all at the same time.

Before you complain about the IMS--failure rates on the 3.4s are very low, and if it does let go, just put a 3.8 in it.

2011 Speed Yellow Boxster S. Black full leather interior. 6-speed manual (like, the one where you have to work a clutch with your foot and a lever with your right hand).

Factory options (going from memory here):
XRR "Carrara" spoke wheels (19") with painted center caps, windstop (Deflector), floor mats in interior color, automatic climate control, power seat package, Bose high end sound package, full leather interior, Bi-Xenon headlights with washers.

I added Bluetooth for streaming audio and clear bra to the front bumper and hood leading edge. I think it's at 66,000 miles, definitely on the high side for one of these, but it has been well cared-for. My wife and I used it for a lot of long-distance travel up and down the East coast. It's got new OE brakes (pads, rotors, sensors), received 7,500 mile oil changes with Amsoil synthetic oil, and received the other service items on-schedule (plugs, air filter, cabin filter, etc). It has clear front signal lenses. It got a new (warranty) high pressure fuel pump last summer. I also have a front plate mount (never used) and a sun shade that go with it, along with a Durametric service tool.

Eh. Neat car but no interest in a 987.1.

If you hadn't said you want to pocket some cash I was going to say a 987.2 Cayman sounds like what you want. Maybe a 981 if you want to go slightly more toward the BMW-ish luxo department.
