Showed the 427 E39 to my wife. Her reaction?

"Is that in Virginia? You should get it."

Inevitably GM will conclude that "people don't want manual sedans" from this experiment instead of "people dont want bland looking cars".

Yeah - I agree. I am purposely trying not to get into too many of the details on this car... But - who knows what will happen in a couple of days...

The car is local here, but something really seems off. Still like the car, though...just wouldn't want it.

Oof. That E28 is tempting, although I wonder how much it will eventually fetch in the auction.

Try as I might, it's hard for me to turn away for too long from certain BMWs....guess there's a reason this place wasn't named chevy(r)evolution

I remember talking with people involved with this thread 10 years ago or more about E28 M5s when a really, really good one barely touched $15k.

In the time that we've all known each other we've seen E28 M5s, E30 M3s, and 911s of all kinds go from reasonable to nutso pricing.

What's next? 1990ish to 2000ish. E36 M3? E46 M3? E34 M5? E39 M5? 986/986S as the 911s go stratospheric? Anything else? Figure a few years later, STis and Evos? Maybe S2Ks? Anything American?

I'm already seeing good E36 M3s sell for (not list for, but sell for) higher than they did a few years ago. Even cars that are not low-mileage garage queens. I have to think the E46 M3 will do the same because it's more of a "real M car" than the E36 was.

I've mentioned this before but 3rd gen RX-7s are starting to go crazy. What about the 300ZX Twin Turbo? I always wanted one. C4 Corvette ZR-1 seems obvious.
