The clear answer is to drop requirement #2 and buy a mint condition E46.

It's not the same transmission, but as long as the Getrag isn't abused under shifting, it'll take a shit ton of power.

No. It was a nice car, and I liked it A LOT, but it has no torque, no LSD, and it's too old (in several respects). Plus I had one, and a very similar one (E91). Combined, that's over 8 years of a similar type of car.
