Ok, so two honest questions here:

1) how is this car better than one that you build yourself, like the one nick put together? Other than it's rarity, which actually cuts against driving it.

2) how can BMW honestly provide a letter allowing this car to be imported if they've never done emissions compliance on that engine?

I've never driven an S2K, but always had the impression that you really had to wring out that buzzy little engine all the time to get any power, when VTEC kicks in, yo.

Is that accurate?
It was so long ago the thing I remember most is the car was just loud in all the wrong ways ... the interior noise with the top up was just annoyingly loud and and with the top down the wind hit me in head in the most annoying way. I would get out of that car no matter what and be irritated. Also I felt I couldn't get comfortable because I would need a little more room to recline the seat which wasn't there.

If I picked one word to describe that car ... annoying and irritating ... ok that was 2 words

Edit: sorry just realized I didn't answer your question .. yes the engine was loud in the wrong way and your description is pretty accurate. While I never minded vtec's this one I really didn't like.

40K Ferrari 456 6M.

http://bringatrailer.com/2017/04/19/...errari-456-gt/

This is actually pretty tempting. I've always liked these 456s, and you aren't going to find a cheaper, subtler way to F car ownership.

EDIT:

Favorite comment:

"Shoulder devil: “Wow, what a bargain! Row your way through the delicious sounds of a Ferrari V12”

Shoulder angel: “Forget the bid. Just click ‘buy it now.'”

Wait, where’s the logic, the reasoning?"

high mileage(for a ferrari) and does not seem well maintained probably has 40k of delayed maintenance

I did know that the car had been repainted prior to my ownership, and that information is also in the ad.

Anyway, it is what it is. Car has been in accidents. Doesn’t take much away from the fact that it is still a very special car, that is very very clean and absolutely rust free.

Bid what you think fits the car, I’ve see these sell for 30 to 60k USD. This one is price way way lower due to the history of the car.
Hmm. A little bit of a die roll, here, but maybe not for someone with a shop and experience taking care of these cars? Wonder what "way way lower" means?
