One is a 94 four door with a 3.0 liter gas engine and an auto. Would be the most usable because it also has AC.
One is a 1980 2.8L six 2 door with a 4 speed manual. It’s easily the coolest, except...no AC. The other two are not that interesting to me. One is a 3.5L diesel but it’s too new and too nice and will go for well more than I want to pay. The other is a 3.0L diesel, and in addition to being RHD, it’s a complete rust bucket. |

I'm undecided whether I would want manual on one of these.
But if you like right hand drive manuals.... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...efender-90-21/ |

I got to drive an old (not sure 40 or 60-series, but wrangler-sized) toyota fj a couple of years ago. Manual, diesel... What could go wrong? It was one of the worst on-road experiences ever, I'd take a rental Dacia over that one. Spend some time with one before bidding. Would you put your kids in it? If not, then it competes with all other toys that you can't put your kids in (boxster, road bike, ??). |

The 1980 had a reserve that was several thousand dollars too high. Optimistic seller. In any event, I didn't bid because no A/C meant its utility would be severely limited. The 94 I came close to getting but I hit my self-imposed limit and tapped out. It went for $500 more than that but who knows how far the other buyer was willing to go. With shipping and tax and whatnot I couldn't justify a $30K lark. The other one was RNM at 40K, which is nuts. |

Yeah I hate auctions. By the time I've decided to buy something that expensive, I'm emotionally committed. I can't handle not bidding another $500 or so to try to win it. Then I'll end up overpaying. Woof
