yeah I have heard the same thing especially if you chip it. FWIW, mine was ok at 47k when they replaced the transmission.

Mine was an 85, first year. But now I remember, it did have the clutch replaced within a week or two of picking it up, as it seems they put the wrong one in.

Shelby was not yet out. But mine came with the air dam in the front and side skirts. No louvers, those were after market then.

My 76 Corolla went about 120,000. I had a transmission issue, so replaced the clutch when I replaced the trans.

It was a bit tuned. Isky cam, dual 40DCOE Webers.
