Not all of us missed it but I was afraid people would laugh at me if I posted about the SVO.

The Sierra Cosworth went for 28,750, which is a good deal. Crazy how cheap those are compared to E30 M3s. I really thought about it, but with no garage and no obvious use case it's hard to imagine what I'd do with it. Still, kind of bummed that I didn't just YOLO it.

Speaking of which...

Someone finally posted the Holy Grail, a 1987 VW GTI 16V that is cleaner than you can imagine a 33 year old VW being. The color is dumb but other than that...wow.

It's going to go for more money than you can imagine because VW people are crazy. I'm guessing...36? More than a new one, certainly.

I worked for a German company in the 90's that made all kinds of equipment for the polyurethane foam industry. The Owner of the company son ran the American office for a while. He located, and bought a 1988 GTI like this one only it was red. I remember him saying way back then that they were hard to get in Germany. He bought it about 18 months before he and his family returned to Germany, drove it very little, and shipped it back to Germany.

He only let me drive it once. I drove it from our building in Towaco NJ to the port in Newark NJ and supervised it loading into a short container.

The next day I sent him an e-mail saying I drove it off the pier. Followed by another e-mail saying dropped off at the pier. It was only about a 30 mile drive, mostly highway, but it was a great car

I find great amusement in the license plate letters of "PZH" on this one.
