It got smoked by a kid in a Mk7 GTI this AM. He easily pulled away from me while I was headed to redline in third. He clearly had a tune, an aftermarket exhaust and who knows what else. Edit: to my disadvantage I did have a full tank and the dog in the car. Ha! She was groomed two weeks ago. She will be swimming in the lake soon. |

Besides, the E39 is a classic, stately type vehicle. It's not a brawler, but rather boxes according to the marquess of Queensbury rules. Tunes and aftermarket exhausts not allowed. Just bareknuckle, stock against stock. You might still lose from the dig, but you'll at least bloody his nose.

I saw the same kid later this afternoon while running an errand in the my parents retired ‘13 E70 50i. He wouldn’t have stood a chance then. |

Looks like the rocker panels will be in body color which is the way both the G8# and G42 should have been designed. Looks like they are also slightly different as well as having a crease behind the door towards the rear quarterpanel. Besides Individual paint, will you be going for carbon roof and bucket seats as well? This car will probably easily get into the low to high 80' once you check all of the boxes.

I have to say, my M440i GC is very 5 series-like. In a good way. I was ready for this level of maturity and composure in my DD.

Depends what the CF roof cost. If an option to select no sunroof is available I will go that route to get my money‘s worth on individual paint. No CF buckets, to old for that… FYI, I have only owned one M car, the E30 M3. The G87 will be my first new one. I recently built a manual G80 M3, it came in at $74k. Doubt a G87 will exceed that sans individual paint. Edit: In the event that individual paint is not initially offered I may have to forgo it. |
