S62 assistance

I should probably post this in the technical section, but I don't have much confidence that anybody reads that forum anymore. Does anyone have knowledge of a competent BMW shop in the DC/MD/VA area? A co-worker is having problems with his E90 M3, specifically throttle valve codes; he has thrown some parts at the problem with little success and is looking to punt to someone competent.

(S65)

Can I ask what parts he's thrown at the problem? Usually misc throttle codes / limp mode come down to actuator issues.

I don't really have a good answer on shops, but Excluservice seems to continue to be expensive but competent.

Thanks, yes S65.

He replaced the throttle actuators and the idle control motor.

I have heard good things about J&F Motors in Arlington and Alexandria Bavarian Service in Alexandria, but I haven’t used either one yet.

New actuators or rebuilt? Rebuilt seems to be a bit hit and miss. And did he replace one or both?

Edit: And if you can get the actual code read out, that would help.

Aside from the engine eating rod and main bearings, and the VANOS failures, and the throttle valve failures, they seem to be pretty robust.

I'm actually serious, not attempting to be disparaging. It's one of the few "modern" BMWs I'd consider owning.

It’s a proud M3 tradition. I was scared of that in my E46 M3.
