Those are great if you don't have to pay for maintenance or repairs.

What are the major issues?

I've only mildly researched ownership costs. I read about the ones with the valve stem issue, but haven't seen many re-occurring problems outside of that.

I haven't researched very much as this is all a pipe dream at the moment.

Anecdotal. But every person I know that has had a Mercedes has bemoaned the insane cost to do routine stuff like spark plugs, brake jobs, shocks, suspension parts, etc. And they're complicated and a pain in the ass to work on.

But again. Anecdotal. I wouldn't go near one. But then again I won't go near owning a modern BMW either. Too unreliable.
