new Honda Civic MT car of the year.

completely subjective, but a good read as they had a field about 20 or so cars.

a lot of it has to do with the Si, of course, and it does not hurt that the Si is $20,310 out the door (supposedly).

Hold that thought.

$19,990 for non-navi. Add $200 for PE2s. However, let's just say that discussions with dealer in the last few weeks has been an irritating experience that I care not to repeat.

betcha dealer markups, esp. in CA, will be as large a percentage markup as there is currently on c6 z06s.

sorry, dude.

Apparently Larry Hopkins in Sunnyvale is holding at MSRP.

Well, no wonder they have 4 on their list already and every other dealer I went to has none.

They may be right, but I have a hard time taking anything that magazine says seriously.

The funny thing is, I know of a dealer selling C6 Z06's without a markup. In California.

The Honda is just that - a Honda. It won't hold a markup beyond the first month.

In all other cases, I'd agree. But the list of people that want one of the new SI's is very lengthy. Unless they flood the market with them, I'd expect the price gouging to carry on for a while.

Yeah, well. I was wrong about the mustang. That markup frenzy lasted a lot longer than I expected. But I bet they do flood the market with SI's. Why wouldn't they? It's just an option package.

Exactly.

It might be a GREAT car. Hell, it might even be the best new model of the year.

But that doesn't mean MT isn't a useless waste of trees.
