2016 X5 50i, Space Gray, Ivory White Design Package, Fineline Wood Trim, DHP, Exexcutive Package, CWP, rear comfort seats (front are standard on the 50i), space saver tire.

Been a great, reliable car. At just under a year, it needed some oil. Which, I take it is kind of normal for this engine.

Very nice spec. I should note that we made it less than 12 hours of ownership before our two year old daughter barfed in the new car - glad we didn't go with the white interior.

Ugh. I remember those days. Our saddle brown interior was pretty forgiving in the previous X5. But it's astonishing how far such indiscretions go--deep into crevices.

The white interior was the spouse's temporary insanity. Beautiful, but nervewracking.

I have black in the 240.

none (at least for the e70)... actually, the back seat is wider and roomier for 3 ppl and it costs less to maintain (by A-LOT so far).

We went from our '09 e61 to our '13 x5 n55 in January. For the last 6 months REALLY missed the wagon (well everything except the maintenance). The x5 rides much harsher, doesn't accelerate as quickly, is much louder (both road and engine noise) and doesn't eat highway miles comfortably at 85-90mph like the wagon did so well.

Ours has a horrible habit of not immediately locking up in D when pulling away. You give it a light amount of gas and it doesn't move, so you give it more and it jerks away. I've tried resetting adaptation, but it didn't fix the problem. In sport mode, it locks up more quickly and starts in first gear, but won't use gears 7 or 8 when cruising and holds gears way too long after you've accelerated. We also have a lot of rattles coming from (I think) the tailgate louvers in the trunk.

The x5 has much better options than our e61 did. IT's metallic black over tan with:
Sport seats w/ lumbar, heated steering wheel, rear seat heaters and shades, nav/tech package, heads up display, soft close doors, confort access, side view cameras, etc.

That's normal, our '12 x3 behaves the same. And yes, it is beyond irritating.

Ugh I hate BMW automatics so much for precisely this reason. It's bizarre, because frigging Land Rover figured out their auto tuning much better than BMW has; the Disco Sport I had wasn't perfect, but it actually held gears where you would want to hold them and didn't lock out the top gears in sport mode (WHY DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?).

There are days I miss the E61. It was such a competent all around car (except that it was built with bailing wire, used twine, and papier mache, reliability-wise). That car with a *slightly* firmer suspension would have been just perfect.

It's just the new transmissions. Both the e61 and e46 automatics were very smooth from launch. Sport mode in the e46 still allows for all gears, in the e61 it did block out 6 (totally agree, why the F would I want that). The 8sp shifts better once underway, but the ability to start from a stop is appalling. It's the single biggest reason we're considering replacing it.

But the thing is that so many other car makers are using the *same* transmissions without issue.

Yup, ours too. The F15 isn't as annoying as the E70 was.
