Infiniti - what model is what ??
I know I'm not the only one ... I'm reading an article in autoweek mentioning the qx50 and I have no idea which one that is then it mentions the qx80 and again I have no idea which one that is ...
I think infinite totally messed up naming every car and suv with a Q I know the G35, the M35, etc ... What a mess it is now |

Yes, it is beyond dumb. I actually don't know the answer to your question without googling.

100% agree. I have no clue what models they even offer anymore.

Agree... Other than "Q" = car and "QX" = SUV/Crossover, and the bigger the number, the larger the vehicle, I don't know what is what anymore.
Can't believe Nissan kept the naming convention change after DeNytschen (sp?) left to go to Cadillac. He's now putting in another obnoxious name change at Cadillac, and he also gave us Audi's current naming convention...

None of them are available with a stick or as a BEV, so it doesn't really matter to me what they offer. But the naming convention is colossally stupid.

Naming conventions have been on a terrible slide for a number of years, but Infiniti is the worst, by far. I can't believe naming everything Q## hasn't had a negative impact on sales.

I think they are try to go w/ an Audi-like scheme. BMW's 3 series= Audi A4 = Infiniti Q50 (always gotta be one higher than the competiton, right?). In their case, it appears that odd numbers are sedans and even are coupes. So the Q60 would be the coupe version of the Q50. Bigger numbers equals bigger cars. I think it's no more/less sensical than Audi's naming scheme - but it caused confusion since they switched from one alphanumeric scheme to another and the letter "Q" used to denote their large sedan. I think Acura, Cadillac and Lincoln are much worse in this regard. They all seem to switch naming schemes every few years-- and the 3 letter alphabetic model names are truly confusing. If Infiniti can actually stick with their new scheme long enough for people to get used it, I think it will be fine.

Rob -
It's not just that they are copying Audi's numbering scheme -- it was implemented by the same person. That person is now at Cadillac -- and doing it again.
