This is Tesla telling you to get new one with two drive units and AWD.

I also had my drive unit replaced at the first annual service…

On a side note, my last unscheduled service visit was in July -- I took it in for a scheduled tire rotation before our big road trip and a service bulletin regarding potential wear on the brake lines had just been released (cause was the liner in the wheel well rubbing on the brake lines…). My car had wear on one brake line -- and they wanted to get it replaced before the road trip, but a part had to be ordered. So they picked up the car and did the repair. Since then, its only been in for a scheduled service (25k service)… I'm hoping all the kinks are worked out...

That's cool. Mine went in a few weeks ago for an intermittent charging issue, similar to a problem I had in the first few weeks.

The drive unit noise cropped up on a trip this summer, but I didn't bother to take it in separately for that. The only really irritating thing is that they can't give me an ETA on a new one, but hopefully that will resolve once the end of year crush is over.

I am also looking forward to the NoVA service center opening in Q1 2015. It won't really be that much closer or more convenient than Rockville, but Rockville has just been buried recently and they really need some extra capacity.

But not supercharger capable... My 200 mile range Model S has plenty of range for daily driving, plus Superchargers for road trips...
