No PCM Classic for the 997.2, only available for the .1 (2005-2008). My 0.02, the .2 does not really need it as PCM 3.0 in the 7.2 is a touchscreen with BT, full Nav, and optional Sirius XM. I had mine updated to the last maps available for PCM 3.0, 2019 maps. Updating the maps also required a fairly significant SW & firmware update to PCM. The only two things missing is wireless audio and there is an inexpensive aftermarket workaround for that. The next one would be Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. There are aftermarket solutions for those as well. Truthfully I do not desire either of those as when I go for a drive in the 997 it is to totally disconnect from the rest of the world.

I think the C2S tends to be a GT. I wonder what the balance of sales are between 911 and 911 S (does it mirror the 330:340 balance which was more like 3:1?).

If you’re into the minutiae, the dynos show that the base 992 motor is very underrated. Like it’s probably closer to 450hp at the crank.

And the S/GTS motors are also underrated, but to a lesser extent. They also obviously make more power on the top end (I think).

Just to review, the 3.0 engine is unchanged across the base/S/GTS. What differs in the S/GTS is larger turbos. S to GTS is simply the boost/ECU tune.

I don’t have any data to support this, but I also think Porsche sandbags any T version of its cars and secretly tunes all of them for more power.

Yep…

The number you quoted for the base engine’s real world horsepower is a little optimistic though. Everything I have read/watched states it is in the 400-420 range +/- prior to driveline loss.

I like the 450 number because it makes Carrera S owners feel inadequate.

I know the data say 360-370 at the wheels and it lands in the 420 range (which is still extrapolation). So I extrapolate further for 93 octane.

I do. But it is the only config where I can grab a manual. I could have gotten a GTS convertible, but I don’t have GT3 envy. A Turbo/Turbo S convertible is too sterile and sleepy. They don’t make a base convertible with a manual and they sure as hell wouldn’t make a T convertible. So I ended up here.

Are you going to be there when they peel off the plastic protective film on the car at the dealer?

I'd want to do the 'unboxing' myself if given the chance. I think that would be a lot of fun

The plan is to hopefully be there and see it come off the truck.

I have repeatedly read that most dealers frown upon that now as allegedly PCNA has advised against it.
