When I was up in Mpls for business last month, I rented a Cavalier. The 4 cylinder is horrible, IMO. It had a useful powerband of about 2000-2500 RPM. Outside of that range, there is nothing. Just noise.

You compare the 2.2 4 cylinder powerplant that Honda had way back in 1990, to GM's current 2.2, some 14 years later, and you can't help but chuckle. Even by 1990 standards, the GM 2.2 is a crude powerplant. Some things just never change.
