I guess it sort of fits in with his shtick

but he better be careful since he might get fired for that comment in the future

Ok basically the engine and transmission are from the base 911 but the gearing is shorter ... are there other differences that would make this car feel like a NA car ?

I watched the video a few days ago and being so ADD I don’t see why I wouldn’t get a base over the T ... not that I’m getting either one because I am waiting for the 992 but I’m just saying

I think primarily because Porsche withholds PTV from the base Carrera.

And shorter gearing, which can be more fun on the street. But is the base 911 gearing too tall?

The only thing I’d say is: it’s that much fun to drive a 987 on a backroad. Maybe more so.

But if you’re a 911 person (I am), the 911 T looks terrific.

With how fast these things depreciate it kind of blows my mind that anybody buys them new.

It's not really that bad, the cost of my 550i & A6 in the past 4 years (2 yr leases each) is equal to the depreciation of the 911 I've had for 6 years.

Unless you buy it new and then sell it in 2 years the depreciation isn't horrible.

With that said the smart move is to buy a 2 to 3 year old one, no doubt you lose a let less money.

And sales tax. Which is significant on more expensive cars. It completely ruins the "buy a car and try it out for a while" experience for me.

Say you buy a car for $100k. You bought at a good discount off msrp so you're able to sell it 2 years later for $80k, and you lost $20k. But in NY you also paid $8,800 in tax bumping the cost of ownership up to $29k. That's a 50% increase in cost of ownership. It's ridiculous.
