The new Clubman is really well executed… My wife will likely get one to replace her Countryman. She almost ordered one in Jan, but we decided to hold off for a few more months for various reasons (and nothing is really wrong with the Countryman -- it has 31k miles and is almost 4 years old).

I'm seeing lots of Macans around -- especially in blue. Really good looking. I'd like to get my wife to test drive one, but she has an aversion to the perceived price...

I'm with ZBB, the new Clubman looks really nice.

In the non-hatchback world, the new Civics are hard to beat (though I think there are different body styles upcoming - not sure of a hatch, though).

New X1, but no manual.

GTI, if she positively needs a hatch.

A3 wagon?

Go test drive one... Even the base 3 cylinder is decent (although a bit slow off the line). But the refinement is what is most impressive -- It still feels like a mini, but has more BMW in it...

Only way to get an A3 hatch is to get the plug in hybrid--no stick.

Will the civic hatchback be a 4 door?

We were considering a Macan as an e61 replacement until we sat in one. My wife (and I) hated the interior. It was cavelike, you sat very low while the door panels and center console were high. A bazillion buttons were everywhere. It was claustrophobic for us. Bad enough to completely eliminate it from our list

I mentioned before, but my wife and kids LOVED the clubman at the auto show. I've only ever driven an r53 mini, but it was a blast.

We sat in one after testing the Cayenne. It's too small as the primary family car, but seems fine as the secondary car. Haven't driven it yet.

I really can't see us buying a Honda. They've been going the wrong direction for longer than BMW has. It might be worth a drive, though the new Civic sure is fugly.

I do think the Clubman is worth a look, just because it's about the only other choice.

But hoo boy it's spendy. By the time you option one out you might as well get a Golf R.
