I put a deposit down on the R2. We’ll see where it goes.

Nice job on these… but the elephant in the room is whether they’ll stay in business long enough to actually start producing them. Hope they do!

Never done this before but put in my $100… intrigued enough to hold a spot in line

Likewise… gave my $100 during the live event. Not at all committed given that the initial ETA is Q1 2026.

The latest rumor is Apple purchasing Rivian. Of course that can has been kicked down the road for several years now.

Edit: Rivian looks like it's trying to get Apple's attention: https://www.morningstar.com/news/mar...ples-attention

I also put a $100 deposit on an R2... Looks really good and checks a lot of boxes for us.

Wow! So far that makes five of us. It will be interesting to see how many of us actually follow through. Of course the R2 has to actually materialize as well. As mentioned there is a high probability that Rivian might not be around by 2026.

Edit: R2 dimensions below. The 4th attachment equals the dimensions for a G01 X3, just for comparison sake.

Someone at work (whose last day was yesterday) also put a deposit on one. I guess it's getting attention. Then again, this guy had two teslas and an EV Mercedes in the past 2 years, so he's not shy about EV's.

Rivian has stated that they took 68,000 deposits within 24 hours. Fairly strong.

Edit: It appears those that are current Rivian owners will receive their R2 order first.

I’m still a bit skeptical about those rumors; it wouldn’t be very Apple like to acquire a products designed by someone else and then put their logo on it. They’d want to control the design and features tightly. So if that’s the case they’d be buying Rivian for their factory and IP related to building EVs but not for the brand value. Rivians market cap is about 12 billion which seems like a lot to pay for just that. But maybe I’m wrong and they’d keep Rivian as a separate brand within the Apple umbrella; still not really seeing it

Regardless I do think they have multiple ways of raising additional cash if necessary so I don’t think they’ll simply go bust in 2 years

Food for thought, Apple has acquired many of companies and not slapped their logo on it. The first one that comes to mind is Beats by Dr. Dre. https://www.beatsbydre.com/
