I’m trying to follow your lead. It’s just ungodly to try to do this on an E61.

BMW longevity is super expensive just for preventative stuff.

I might get a month in. Looks like a late Fall, so I'm selfishly hoping for a late winter. Some years we don't get salt on the roads until mid-December.

We're probably about 115k on my wife's Outback purchased new in July 2013. My FoST, which I bought in Jan 2013 had about 70k when I sold it in February.

The Camaro has 11,700. It had 500ish when I got it home the day I bought it. Of those 11,700m miles, 6,300 of them are autocross related.

Counting miles on your car is a funny thing, I’m pretty much the opposite of high mileage ... I was looking at the 911 and thinking do I drive this car enough ... checking the records it seems I put 1200 Miles on it in the last year...

I thought to myself this is ridiculous to keep this thing but I love the car too much to sell it ... at least for now plus it seems this car is not depreciating which like Plaz’s car is just weird

I don't really know yet, I've only driven it a couple of miles in suburban rush hour traffic. Just picked it back up this afternoon after the nut blast, new PS4Ss mounted, new oil filter housing gasket installed, and pads/rotor replacement. Kind of a big bill.

With the amount of crap in there, I'm surprised I didn't notice anything really wrong. I've read that typically the first obvious sign is a rough idle, but it was idling smoothly. Slow power degradation over time is less noticeable, understandably.

Honestly unless any potential power bump is really significant, I don't know if I'll trust my butt dyno to measure it too accurately. I imagine it will feel more powerful to me whether it is or not, because I subconsciously want it to. Like how cars often feel to me like they run more smoothly and effortlessly after an oil change, even though I seriously doubt there's anything empirically measurable a driver can actually feel attributable to fresh oil.

Okay, never mind all that equivocating bullshit I posted above.

I DEFINITELY feel a difference. Like, a dramatic difference.

It’s much more eager to get to high revs now, and sings a less strained note when it’s up there. I swear the transition from low revs into boost range is smoother now too, and when putting my foot in it from low revs in a high gear, say moving to execute a highway pass in fifth or sixth without downshifting, summoning the twist to get it moving feels much more effortless. Also just feels smoother and more responsive throughout the range.

I was prepared for nuance but got a loud profanity.

Forcing myself to put a number on it, I’d guess it feels like it got 30 horses back.

Seriously awesome.

The PS4Ss are great too. Amazing how much better tires are getting with each generation. The PS2s this car shipped with were really fantastic at the time, but the PSSs and now the PS4Ss I’ve put on successively have each significantly eclipsed the previous set in terms of both comfort and stickiness.

Good stuff.
