Lancia Stratos

Edmunds drive: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=131979

I've wanted one of these almost since birth. Still one of the coolest cars ever built, IMHO. In fact, I think it is because of this car that I've always had an inexplicable sense of goodwill about Alitalia.

Back around 1978 I chased and chased after a girl who owned a Lancia Beta (red one!)

Truth be told, I wanted the car more than the girl, but the girl was pretty hot too!

I failed at both

White with green is the only way that car should be painted.

You need to head to the Goodwood Festival of Speed some time...

They have a rally course, and old rally cars go out for a spin. There's usually at least 4-5 Stratos that will be out...

One of my favorite cars.

I still remember the Car and Driver test. The car is shorter than a Honda Civic (the original SMALL Civic), with a Ferrari Dino 2.4L V6 mounted transversely.

I hav a couple of platic model kits of it.

Looks like a fun machine. Way cooler looking than the current crop of rally cars.

There is a kit car replica available. I saw it when I went to Carlisle a few years ago.
