The odometer is in the right display, as is the outside temp.

Ah. I will look for the light switch. And Dan led me in the right direction for the info displays. I had not tinkered with the little stem gizmo. Thank you!

So, I checked out that tailgate light and it was already switched on. Just doesn't do very much to illuminate the dark cargo interior...

Thanks for the advice, though!

I swapped to LEDs in the tailgate for my 4runner and they made a huge difference. Guessing they have something equivalent for your Mazda, just be sure to research a bit and not buy some crappy ebay ones.(which I might of done initially )

The Outback we had came with LED interior lights the dealer had installed while it sat on the lot as an extra markup item (that, if I paid for, was included in the price I negotiated).

I did not realize how much of a difference they made until I got into a same generation Outback with the OE lights. Wow.

Then, I looked up pricing on the LEDs for a DIY home upgrade and my reaction was, "Why doesn't everyone do this?"

I put LEDs in the E90's reverse lights because they are tiny, tiny bulbs from the factory. It's nice to get useful light from them, especially with the too-dark tint that came on the car.

Have an offer in on a house. If it come through, maybe I can install better garage lighting.

Multiple offer situation, though. So who knows.
