In the Fiat world, there is a plate mount that retracts under the bumper.

I don't have a front plate on any of our cars. We got a ticket once in the Roadster (301 bridge coming home on Labor Day). And Camille got a verbal warning about the M3. She pleaded it was her husband's car and she nothing about the plate or lack thereof.
