The 997.1's are not too bad either.

Not that I am biased.....

only $60 more a year over my m3.

Insurance lady couldn’t get the vin to work but she repeated 2001 911 turbo as the car selection.

More akin to BMW expansion tanks, though, from what I've seen, failure of this is far less common or regular.

Coolant loss would be nowhere near as devastating as ims failure.

I read plenty on it. Reading vendors websites, it's a catastrophe waiting to happen and anyone should run, not walk to have it fixed.

Well, my TT never had it done and was fine at 90k+ miles. Not to say it didn't worry me, but I was not a track junkie and I was always near home and usually not near redline. But yeah, it's something to address.

To be fair, I was waiting for the first reason to drop the engine to do a bunch of "while you're there" things like clutch, coolant pipes, another set of plugs ('cause why not?), etc.

That would have been a hefty bill, or, if I did it myself, still pricey parts plus a ton of my time, and lots of down time on the TT.

thanks, not going to freak out about it

you changed your own oil right? Same as this with 4 different drain plugs and pulling the fuse for the fuel pump?

On the 997TT you drain the pan and the sump. That's all. Sump is tricky as it is aluminum so you have to use two wrenches to not mangle the sump housing.

No need to pull the fuel pump fuse either. That's weird. I had to do that to change the fuel filter, otherwise you have a soda can worth of fuel in there. But for the oil change? Nah. That's weird.
