If you owned an S2000 that needed new tires
The car finally needs a new set of rubber. I'm leaning towards the RE-11, mainly because I've had such great luck with Bridgestone summer tires. They've always worn nice and evenly (no wobble-wobble noise as you drive).
The car came with RE-050 tires, and I guess that I could save a few bucks and go with the same again. Are there any compelling reasons to go with the less expensive tires like the Kumho Ecsta XS, besides price? Anyone have enough experience with them, or similar, to have an opinion? |

The XS is one of the best tires you'll drive on in the dry. And one of the worst tires in existence in the wet.
The current performance order is something like: Hankook RS-3 Dunlop Z1/Yoko AD08 <--- these are the best choices if you want good wet traction, too. RE-11 The RE-11 is a good, street oriented tire with a lot of stick. It just has really awful steering precision from what I hear. If you want dry performance over all, get the Hankooks. They are also absurdly cheap. For a nice blend, get the dunlops. If you want the best steering response, get the Yokohamas. (They are slightly faster than the Dunlops, but more expensive.)

The Hankooks are great in the dry and very good in the wet.
Supposedly the Dunlops work very well on the S2000, wet or dry. Can't go wrong with any of them though. |

I haven't run on them, so I can't comment from personal experience, but I've seen some people running RS-3s as dry tires and Z1s as wets, FWIW.

The RS-3s work well in the wet.
One thing I will say about them though is they're loud. On an S2000 that probably doesn't matter - it's a loud car anyway. |

Thank you for the advice, everyone. I had Dunlops on the 4Runner, and was dissatisfied enough with them to establish a desire to never buy another set from that brand. Probably nonsense in this case, since that's a completely different type of tire on the truck, so I'll give their summer rubber a look.
Thanks! |

Why don't you check out the s2000 forums I think you would get the best advice from other S2000 owners.
