Does anyone talk to there passengers anymore?

Maybe this is more of a question for folks with kids. I don’t have any.

Do you talk to your passengers if people are in the back seat? I mean when I am in a car of more then two people which is rare, we still put our phones away and chat most of the time. ESP on ski and camping trips and the like.

There is plenty of time to be on your devices when you are not around your friends.

TO that end here is BMW’s next answer to shut up in the back and tune out.

Go to 3:24 for the back seat demo.

We already have enough distractions with our devices in our daily lives. Do we really need to be quiet and numb to everything in our cars as well???!!

I thought the whole point of riding in the back was to look at your phone?

The overwhelming majority of times I'm in a vehicle where anyone is in the back seat, it's family. Whether and how much conversation happens depends on too many variables, so I guess the answer in that context is "sometimes."

When I'm in a vehicle with friends and someone is in the backseat, I mostly have to remember pre-COVID times and a brief time last spring/summer. In those cases, the only not on their phone was the driver, but conversation is constant nonetheless.

Simple solution, I stopped hauling anyone other than my dog. Plus I much rather listen to the engine/exhaust than talk or listen to the stereo. I got old…

The only people riding in the backseat would be my kids. They pretty much always have earbuds in and are on their phones. I find it too distracting to carry on conversations if I'm driving. I invariably will miss my turn or exit if I get heavily involved in a convo

I am the same way and my wife does not understand it : She usually like to bring up a heavy topic as I am merging on the freeway

Yeah I guess the question should have been directed at pre COVID times but I get the whole family situation.

I do remember pre phone and internet times when I was growing up we did annoy the crap out of our parents while they were driving. So I suppose some isolation and distraction with kids being on there devises helps.

But honestly who needs a theater in the back seat like the upcoming BWM addition in the YouTube.

Before the phone, I had a book reader. Before the book reader, I brought a book.
