The only critical thing it’s missing, IMO, is a heated steering wheel. I find that very valuable in a convertible. |

I'd love to say GTI+Boxster. But whereas VW has a winner offering the GTI new for around 30k, that one can't get a reasonably good NA Boxster for 70k is sad. That is exactly what I would do in real life. Currently you need to go with a 6-7 yo to get one and then you don't really keep much change (or any at all if a 2015 GTS), which is insane.

It’s nice, but I hate grey interiors…. If it had Natural Brown or another darker tan, I’d have to think about it…

Gave some thought to that LA 981. Shipping wouldn’t even be that bad. But idk man I just keep coming back to thinking that the 987 is one of those cars I’d regret selling almost immediately. Can’t help but think it would be an E46–>E90 situation.

I worried a bit that I'd regret selling ours. Different strokes / folks but no regrets here. It's actually been really liberating.

It's a tough question.
I've been happy with my S4, which is probably worth $25k at this point. Maybe a little more on a good day. So, I think a Boxster would be a nice add on to get up to the $100k budget.

Even if it is a little better than the 987, would you get $30k of incremental enjoyment out of it?

I also generally still would like to upgrade to the 9A1 engine over the M96, but at the prices 987.2s and 981s are commanding that doesn't make any sense from a risk mitigation standpoint, either. Anyway, it was a momentary thought and maybe if the car were the perfect spec I would have pursued it, but it isn't...so I didn't. |
