Yikes!

It's costing me ~$3300/year to insure all 4 cars right now.

Then again, insuring the 190E back in 2000 cost me $2k/year. And it was a 10yo car and I only had 1 or 2 speeding tickets.

My annual cost right now is in a similar neighborhood for three cars (all three with rather high liability limits and two with collision and comprehensive) and four drivers, two of them teenage girls with less than two years driving experience combined.

Currently keeping an eye out for another $4k beater.

For fun, I just got a quote for adding another 2008 Accord EXL V6 sedan to my policy. Anyone want to guess what it did to my premium?

So I guess the answer is "no, no one wants to guess." I'll tell you anyway.

$40 increase to add a second 2008 Accord EXL V6 for a 12 month period.

I could go on for hours on how carriers price auto policies, and they all do it differently. One area they all vary is how they do driver/vehicle assignments and rating. Carriers all consider how many cars you have, how many drivers you have, and then some way to allocate out who they expect to drive each car. Some average drivers and assume there is a chance they will drive all cars. Some specifically ask you who drives which car. Some ask but actually ignore that behind the scenes and assume the worst (ex. Riskiest driver drives riskiest car, etc.) Long way of saying there are weird interactions in how they price the policies, so to throw out some made up numbers... just because you paid $1000 on avg for your first 3 cars, adding another car likely does not result in the additional +$1000 you originally expected. Sometimes in a good way, other times in a bad way.

Good points Sarafil !!! One other major thing is the actual limits and coverage's. One of the most common things you hear is why is my neighbor paying so much less then I am ... coverage's and limits make a huge difference.

Also I am a strong believer in Carrier choice as well, some Carrier's are just better and easier to do business with when it comes to claims and it is worth paying more IMO.
