Ran across this on Twitter.

Here’s a breakdown of the steps needed to replace the serpentine belt on a 2.9QV.

So it is similar to the way you repair an LCD TV . . . . you buy a new TV/car

* Closer to home, the replacement instructions for the heater blower motor in an E46 say "You may find it useful to remove the cylinder head first. On the M3, this step is not optional." (TIS 64 11 213)

IIRC, it was traditional to drill access holes on that Buick.

I believe that it says that, but it makes no sense. You can simply lower the engine a couple inches if it comes to that with little to no disconnection of anything. (And it’s absolutely 100% not useful to do on an M54.)

I owned a 1979 chevy C10 van (305 V8) that required unbolting the passenger side engine mount, and jacking the motor about 2 inches to remove one of the spark plugs. I did it once, and bought the best possible plug I could find at the time

This.

The 997.1TT was a notorious PITA to have the spark plugs changed, but even in that cramped space, I changed the belt on that car pretty easily with minimal instructions.
