Agreed, that the whole 718 moniker is stupid.

You mean exciting in a positive way? Don't think I'm with you on that.

It's hard for me to imagine personalities for electric engines, whereas gas engines have unique feels to them beyond the sounds they make: the whole starting, breathing in, expiring out, oxygen consuming life analogy. Even ICE cars can be appliance-like but, it's almost guaranteed for an EV to be an appliance. Given that the naturally aspirated 911's, boxsters & caymen are some of the cars furthest from feeling like appliances, yeah, this only makes me sad. If all rav4's became electric, would I care? No.

Looks like no more gas engined Boxsters post 2024.

Time to order?
Interesting article. Sounds like the motivation is Chinese buyers + upcoming Euro 7 emissions regs. I'm curious to find out what platform they build this on....up until now I know they've made the business case for both the 911 and Boxster/Cayman by having them sharea platform. Sounds like the 911 will continue on as is while the Boxster will diverge. They say in the article that it "a newly developed sports-car platform that is said to be far more than a shortened version of the PPE platform." Wonder what else will be on this platform if not the 911?

A NA 4.0l would solve that

Sounds like this won't come to market until 2024 so there's still plenty of time to let the production get back to normal before you'd have to order one no?

LOL, I don't think production is "coming back to normal" much before 2024.

2. I suspect the EV Boxster will be impressive. I like EVs, though the Taycan leaves me a little cold. I have plenty of time to buy an EV Boxster in the future. This is the death knell for the ICE cars.

3. No one is going to lose a single dollar buying an end-of-line Boxster 4.0. They will hold their values from the moment they drive off the lot.

I feel exactly the same way. I may well buy one… if Porsche wants to sell me one.

Well, that's going to be the problem, yes? Finding an order slot in the next 12-24 months.

Totally agree.

If I could ever drive one, I could at least assess if this is a brighter idea than a 2018 GT3 6spd.

Yes. As an EV-only household, I’m excited for a sports car and convertible EV

Agree…. The chip shortage will likely impact production at nearly all automakers at least into 2023 and likely longer…
