Gotterdamerung for the Boxster

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...uture-details/

Looks like no more gas engined Boxsters post 2024.

Time to order?

Was watching this recently, didn't realize they are so expensive nowadays for a base one. Looks like T adds 10k which seems like a lot but not sure what it all entails.

Couldn’t help but notice that they say the car runs out of steam quickly at the upper end of the powerband……which is expensive for a slow car.

1. I still have no real interest in the turbo cars. It's shallow, but they sound like Subarus, and if I'm going to splash out this kind of coin, I'm not settling for a blown four. Sorry, just not there.

2. I suspect the EV Boxster will be impressive. I like EVs, though the Taycan leaves me a little cold. I have plenty of time to buy an EV Boxster in the future. This is the death knell for the ICE cars.

3. No one is going to lose a single dollar buying an end-of-line Boxster 4.0. They will hold their values from the moment they drive off the lot.

This is not a terribly convenient time to buy a car like this for me, and I still struggle with whether I'd enjoy it more than the car I've already got. But this is also the last chance to spec something exactly the way I want, so I'm pretty conflicted.

Sounds like this won't come to market until 2024 so there's still plenty of time to let the production get back to normal before you'd have to order one no?

I feel exactly the same way. I may well buy one… if Porsche wants to sell me one.

A NA 4.0l would solve that

Totally agree.

If I could ever drive one, I could at least assess if this is a brighter idea than a 2018 GT3 6spd.

Hopefully they stop calling them 718s…

Am I the only one that finds this exciting?
