Approaching 5k miles on mine. A year in. The pluses of a work-from-home job.

And as long as this is a car lovefest thread, I'll say this. All these tests drives just made me love the E46 even more. Getting back in it I'm like, damn this car is great. I'm really glad I refreshed it. It's not going anywhere.

The E82 is the last of the BMW DNA bloodlines. Everything since has either been castrated or sanitized so it's generally innocuous in even the smallest details to soccer moms, hairdressers and bank presidents.
Too bad the E82 is regarded as polarizing in the appearance category, or found in too small a numbers to be better appreciated. But even that can be a blessing since you rarely see another one on the road. As far as the overall stable goes, I'm satisfied and blessed to have a truly diverse lineup of vehicles to call on. There's a hatch, a station wagon and a small sport coupe to draw from; DSG, steppy tronic or manual to dance with; blue, gray or orange palette colored skins to eyeball; anthracite, saddle brown and black pigmented cows to take in on the interior. If variety is indeed the spice of life, then I'm od'ing daily from the eclectic available offerings. While each has it's various pros and cons, bottom line is they all feel connected to the road with lovely, sensuous hydraulic racks that make my fingers tingle and the endorphins in my brain go gaga. And the biggest bonus of all...............................they're all paid for.

Almost 16 years old with 153,xxx miles, my DD E46 just keeps plugging along. It's the best all-around car I've ever owned, and don't see getting rid of it anytime soon.

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured this thread was as good as any. The little e46 wagon was deemed a total loss today. Its pretty sad, we all really grew to love that car. My daughter actually shed a tear over it. We are still working out the settlement, but it looks like we will get between $5500 and $6000 for it. Considering we bought it for $7500 in the summer of 2014 and put ~100k on it that is pretty awesome. The car taught 2 and 1/2 kids to drive, got through blizzard snowstorms and carried picnic tables on its roof. It will be missed a lot.
I am on the hunt for either another clean e46 wagon or maybe a 2011+ E90 wagon now. No hurry, probably not in the current car market, but would like to find something before winter.
