Colorado with bent frame
My "Colorado Enthusiasts" Facebook group is blowing up over the photo below. A guy posted that photo with the caption:
Quote:
And now when someone asks a question like, "What's the best hitch mounted bike rack" you get the answer "Just be sure to mount it properly so you don't bend your frame". Every single question is answered that way. People are fighting over it (some are defending him), leaving the group, fighting with the moderators, getting banned. It's a mess. I mostly just can't believe that the frame bent like that. I'd have thought the hitch would break or pull off first. But I guess the back portion is reinforced by the hitch itself so it's the strongest section. |

Something doesn't jive here. Why isn't there any mud on the trailer, safety chains, or wiring harness? If it was taken off road, those would be caked with mud too. Trailer is spotless.
Also, if the trailer's tongue was weighted that much, wouldn't the tongue deform long before the much beefier truck frame would? Last edited by ff; 05-17-2019 at 01:50 PM. |

People think it was frame mounted because of the truck model, but no one is 100% sure. The OP quit the group and ran off.
People stalked him on facebook and found his trailer (attached) which he claimed was 5,000 lbs or less. People are saying he must have hard-bottomed on the bumps and the frame finally gave. |

I remember reading about Raptors bending at the same spot, just behind the cabin, in the opposite direction, after landing some jumps. Apparently, you can't just go out and play as hard as the commercials lead you to believe.
