I think there was a class action for the whole E46 3 series...

Edit: Yep. But certainly the M3s were more prone to the problem.

With the ragtop, I wonder if this area is built stronger anyway, due to loss of hardtop rigidity

Ok this is actually a good spec low miles and not a bad price. Maybe I will find one.

Looks like maintenance is all done.

This is a really nice package.
Auction's got about 5 hours to go. Yeah, this car was primarily driven by that dude's wife. I've ridden and driven this one, although that was years ago when it was basically new. Very nice example.

That was always the question, but not sure whether ever proven.

Someone here should pick it up. Very nice car. Although, after having a 2006 M3, I prefer the exterior appearance of the M.

IIRC the convertibles had a somewhat stronger rear axle carrier panel. I've heard of convertible M3s with cracked welds but the prevailing thought is that it's less common than with the coupes.

This problem was also almost unheard-of with any E46 other than the M3. However, a few examples pop up from time to time, maybe exacerbated by age. The owners always say their cars are babied.

$14k takes it. Not a steal but a good price still.

Damn. That’s a lot of money. I mean, yes, it’s well kept and in good condition, but still.

Agreed. There’s really nothing extraordinary about this car. And mileage is not low.
