My leatherette isn't in great shape either on the driver's seat. I'm sure it's far better off than if I'd had leather, but this 'ette stuff isn't as indestructible as I had hoped.

MB-tex is virtually indestructible and better than 'ette. But frankly, if you used your car that much and like it still, get it re-upholstered. That's why keepers should always be black - much easier to maintain and/or fix long-term.

Our 4Runner seats, at 55K miles, and basically no maintenance beyond random vacuuming, still look like brand new. Literally. I'm a big fan of cloth seats.

The cloth / canvas seats in the Jeep really impress me, too. For 10 years they've stood up well to the elements, getting the occasional rain on them, lots of dust and globs of mud thrown on them from the tires, all the sun exposure from the top down driving, and having me, my son, and our dog clamber all over them with our muddy feet. A quick vacuum and wipe down/dust off of the vinyl lower sides and they still look very good.

Are those e39 seats? Perhaps they are 250 bazillion miles. Our e39 leather seats are in great shape at nearly 70k now.

I'm sure there's an uber detailer way to go about it, but I've had decent luck just wiping with a damp cloth every now and then, and conditioning with Lexol once a year.
