I will note that while I'm not a particular defender of the E9x's looks, this specific picture is clearly taken at a different focal length than the others and is particularly unflattering.
The F8x was also taken with a distorting focal length, but one that makes it look meaner.

I tend to be more drawn to the older stuff, but the E90 (particularly the E92) M3 still looks great to me
The E46 M3 was always let down by its too-small front wheels and 4x4 ride height. Once lowered a bit, with some wider wheels and tires, it starts to look mean. Still crosseyed, though I love the look of the E36 but it looks so dated today. I think a big part of that is the headlights. |

That has always bothered my on all M3/4 couples since E46, which is why I prefer the sedan. I also think that relative to the marketplace and competition, the M3 is a better sports sedan than the M3/4 is a sports coupe.

I guess I see what you're saying about the coupe, but it doesn't bother me. The sedan rear end is just yuck.
